Winnetka Gothic Revival Renovation

This renovation of an historic landmark residence in Winnetka, Illinois encompassed the complete reconstruction and upgrades to both the interior and exterior. The interior work included adding a new kitchen, breakfast room, rear entry, and powder room, as well as a remodeled dining area on the 1st Floor. On the 2nd Floor, two new bathrooms, four bedrooms and a central family-play room were added together with full upgrades to all of the building systems throughout the residence. The external character, details and features of the residence were retained, restored or replicated, as were the moldings, trim and other interior details of the main living spaces.

The photos show the exterior of the residence both before and after the restoration was completed. In 2001, the residence was purchased by the Winnetka Historical Society and, with few changes to the main living spaces, it now serves as the headquarters, offices, and research space for the society, as well as a museum with spaces for permanent and temporary exhibits and public programs.
